How to Watch a Screener Link Sent to You

If someone sent you a ScreenKey link, this guide will help you open it, sign in if needed, watch the media, and find it again later.

Before you start

You will usually need:

The link that was sent to you
The email address where you received the invitation
A ScreenKey account, if the link requires sign-in

Some links open right away. Others require you to log in first so ScreenKey can confirm that you are the person who was invited.

Step 1: Open the link you received

Start by selecting the ScreenKey link from your email, message, or invitation.

In many cases, the link will take you directly to the Project or Screening Room you were invited to view.

If you are already logged in to ScreenKey, the content should open automatically.

If you are not logged in, ScreenKey may ask you to log in or create an account first.

Step 2: Log in or create an account if prompted

Some ScreenKey invitations are secure and are connected to a specific email address.

If ScreenKey asks you to log in, use the same email address where you received the invitation. This is important because secure invitations are often tied to that email address.

If you are new to ScreenKey, follow the prompts to create an account. After your account is created, ScreenKey should take you to the Project or Screening Room from the original link.

Step 3: Watch the media

Once the Project or Screening Room opens, you can begin watching the available media.

The page may look different depending on how the sender set it up:

Theater Mode gives you a polished, streaming-style viewing experience. You may see categories, featured media, or organized sections.

Workspace Mode gives you a project-style layout. You may see folders, grid views, list views, and other tools for browsing media.

Screening Rooms are usually more curated. They may contain selected media that was prepared specifically for viewing or review.

You do not need to choose the mode yourself. Just open the link and use the viewing page you are given.

Step 4: Use the options available to you

Depending on how the content was shared, you may be able to do more than watch.

You may see options to:

View media
Browse folders, categories, Projects, or Screening Rooms
Leave feedback or comments
Download files, if downloads are enabled
Mark a Project as complete
Request renewed access if your access has expired

Not every viewer will see the same options. The person or team who shared the content decides what you can access.

For example, one viewer may only be able to watch a screener, while another may be able to leave feedback or download files.

Step 5: Find your screeners later in For Review

After you have accepted an invitation or opened secure content, you can usually find it again in the For Review section of ScreenKey.

Use For Review when you want to:

Find Projects shared with you
Find Screening Rooms shared with you
Open media that needs your review
See what you have already reviewed
Mark a Project as complete
Request access to expired content

This is especially helpful if you review content for more than one company, production, campaign, or team.

Instead of searching through old emails, you can go to For Review to see the ScreenKey content that has been shared with you.

Step 6: Claim new invitations

If you are logged in to ScreenKey, new invitations may appear in your Alerts area or as notifications.

If you see a new invitation, select it to claim access.

After you claim the invitation, ScreenKey will open the Project or Screening Room that was shared with you.

Step 7: Mark a Project as complete, if available

Some Projects allow you to mark your review as complete.

Use this when you are finished watching or reviewing the content.

Marking a Project as complete only affects your own review status. It does not remove the Project, change anyone else’s access, or notify other viewers that their review is complete.

This feature is mainly there to help you keep track of what you have already watched.

Step 8: Request access if the link has expired

Some ScreenKey links are only available for a certain amount of time.

If your access has expired, you may still see the Project in For Review. If a request option is available, select it to ask for renewed access.

If you do not see a way to request access, contact the person or team who sent you the link.

There are two common ways someone may share ScreenKey content with you.

Secure invitations

A secure invitation is connected to your email address. You may need to log in or create a ScreenKey account before you can open the content.

For secure invitations, make sure you use the same email address where the invitation was sent.

A Share Link may open without requiring a ScreenKey account.

Share Links are easier to access, but they are less secure because anyone with the link may be able to view the shared content.

Be careful when forwarding or sharing a Share Link. Only share it if the sender has told you it is okay.

Troubleshooting access

If you cannot open the screener, check these common issues:

Are you using the right email address?

Use the same email address where you received the invitation.

Are you logged in to the correct ScreenKey account?

If you have more than one email address, you may be logged in with the wrong one.

Has the viewing window expired?

Some Projects and Screening Rooms are only available for a limited time.

Do you still need to claim the invitation?

Check your Alerts or notifications in ScreenKey.

Was the link disabled or changed?

The sender may have updated, expired, or removed the link.

If you still cannot access the content, contact the person or team who sent you the invitation.
