ScreenKey Terminology: Quick Reference


Term Plain-language meaning
Approver A ScreenKey Role where users are assigned media images to reject or approve in Media Approval Workflows
Groups Reviewers in a project who share the same access permissions.
Gallery Galleries are specialized folder-like workflows used to manage individual approval and rejection decisions in Media Approval Workflows
Media Approvals An Enterprise-specific workflow where assigned Approvers review images and submit formal approval or rejection decisions.
Owner The Administrative Owner of an Organization responsible for managing Team Members.
Organization The Company/Department/Team that owns the Projects. Think of it as the administrator that manages users, permissions, settings, and billing.
Project The main collaborative workspace where media is uploaded, organized, managed, reviewed, approved, and shared.
Project Modes

Presentation viewing modes. Projects can be displayed in two distinct views/modes:

  • WORKSPACE MODE is used for collaborative, work-in-progress workflows where users need to navigate through many assets and folders. (i.e. Dailies on a TV series)
  • THEATER MODE is used for presenting a workspace into a polished, presentation-friendly layout for reviewing (i.e. watching screeners)

NOTE: Users can toggle between Workspace/Theater modes within Project Settings. 

Reviewer A User invited to securely watch or review shared media, with optional access to feedback and downloads.
Role The responsibilities or function of the User within a Project or Organization. Roles can be administrative such as Organization Owners and Team Members, and/or collaborative such Reviewers, Approvers, and Uploaders
Screening Room A custom viewing space designed for presenting select content from across multiple Projects (i.e. Cannes screening room, Sales Catalogue, etc.)
Team Members A User invited to help manage an Organization and its Projects based on their assigned permissions.
Uploader A User invited to contribute media to a project.
User Universal term for anyone with a ScreenKey account, regardless of permissions/roles
