TL;DR: ScreenKey Basics
Brand-new to ScreenKey?
Start here for a quick introduction to the platform, its terminology, and how its key features work.
A simplified overview of ScreenKey:
- Organizations create and own Projects.
- ScreenKey users receive access based on what Role they need within a specific project or organization.
- Projects contain media and workflows. Projects can be created in 2 operating modes: Workspace or Theater
- Screening Rooms are dedicated presentation spaces for packaging multiple Projects into a single review destination
Organizations
An Organization is the administrative account in ScreenKey that owns Projects, and contains Owners and Team Members.
A user becomes the de facto owner of an Organization when they create their first project. You become a Team Member when invited to join an Organization, which grants you special permissions determined by the Org Owner.
Organizations:
- Own and Manage Projects
- Invite and Manage Team Members
- Control permissions and security settings
- Manage workflows, billing, and account-level settings
- A user may belong to one or many organizations, with varying roles within each.
IMPORTANT: Projects belong to Organizations, not to individual users.
ScreenKey Roles
ScreenKey user roles are determined by access and permissions—not real-world job titles. Roles within ScreenKey are Team Members (Admin), Reviewers, Approvers, and Uploaders
Therefore, one single user may have different roles across different Organizations or Projects.
Admin
The Admin workspace is where you access, create and manage Projects within an Organization.
A Project is the container for a workflow that contains media files, folders, or Galleries. Each Project has its own settings for sharing, reviewing, and uploading.
Depending on your user role within a particular project, you may be able to upload and access media, provide and review feedback, see project-specific analytics, download content, and/or manage file sharing permissions and security settings.
NOTE: A Project can represent anything from a single screener or campaign to an entire season or production workflow. Its structure is flexible to its media content, intended use, and audience.
Review
The Review workspace is your go-to destination to watch projects shared with you, give feedback, and execute approvals. When you share a project with your audience, this is where they go to view it.
QUICK TIP: You can experience your project through the eyes of your reviewers by sharing your project to your ScreenKey Account email.
Screening Rooms
A Screening Room is a secure, presentation-focused destination that brings together selected media from one or more Projects across your Organization’s library.
Screening Rooms are great for packaging together a sales catalogue, buyer or festival review packages, FYC campaigns, or regional distribution collection.
QUICK TIP: You can share directly from within a Project without the need to create a screening room.
