Create your first Media Approvals project
Media Approvals Mode is designed for workflows where contributors need to upload media for review and approval before that content is shared or distributed.
Unlike Theater Mode and Workspace Mode Projects, Media Approvals Projects cannot be created directly by users. These Projects must be set up by the ScreenKey Team.
What Media Approvals Mode is used for
Media Approvals Mode helps teams collect, review, approve, and manage submitted media in a structured workflow.
It is useful when third-party contributors, vendors, partners, agencies, or internal teams need to submit media that must be reviewed before it can move forward.
Use Media Approvals Mode when you need to:
- Allow contributors to upload media for approval
- Review submitted assets before distribution
- Assign approvers to specific groups of media
- Manage approval decisions in a controlled workflow
- Keep approved and unapproved media separated
- Prepare approved content for secure sharing or distribution
How Media Approvals Projects work
Media Approvals Projects work differently from Theater Mode and Workspace Mode Projects.
In Theater Mode and Workspace Mode, Team Members can create folders and upload media directly into the Project.
In Media Approvals Mode, media is organized into Galleries. A Gallery is similar to a folder, but it has its own approval workflow and is shared with approvers on an individual basis.
Each Gallery moves through approval stages such as:
- Uploading
- Tagging media
- Approvals
- Completion
In a Media Approvals Project, media can only be uploaded into Galleries.
How to create a Media Approvals Project
Media Approvals Projects can only be created by the ScreenKey Team.
To create your first Media Approvals Project, contact your ScreenKey customer service representative and let them know that you need a Project set up in Media Approvals Mode.
When requesting the Project, it may be helpful to include:
- The name of the Project
- The Organization the Project should belong to
- Who will manage the Project
- Who will upload media as Contributors
- Who will review and approve submitted media
- Any security, access, or workflow requirements
Important note about Project mode
Media Approvals Mode must be selected when the Project is created by the ScreenKey Team.
After a Project has been created in Media Approvals Mode, its mode cannot be changed.
If you are not sure whether Media Approvals Mode is the right fit, contact your ScreenKey customer service representative before the Project is created.
Summary
Media Approvals Mode is best for structured submission and approval workflows where contributors upload media and approvers review it before distribution.
Because Media Approvals Projects require special setup, users cannot create them directly. To get started, contact your ScreenKey customer service representative and request a new Media Approvals Project.
